Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer in Luminous Bronze Light

As someone with a fair/light complexion I reach for bronzers quite often. I've tried the Ambient Lighting Blush formula from Hourglass in the past (this blush palette is still one of my favourites) and after they've added bronzers to the lineup I knew I wanted to try one.

The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer in Luminous Bronze Light comes in a light golden plastic case with a mirror. It looks really luxurious but I would prefer if the brand's packaging in general had a bit more weight to it. I have a mini/travel version which contains 1,4 g of product, while the full size has 11 g for twice the price, making the travel size quite a rip off. Each Ambient powder has a different marbled pattern because they are hand made and mine has a medium warm bronzer pigments infused with Luminous Light Ambient Lighting Powder for a 'softer candlelit warmth'. The quality is great, just as I was used to from using their blush powders - the bronzer is silky smooth, soft to the touch and packs quite some pigment, while the Lighting Powder part adds a beautiful healthy glow and luminosity without obvious sparkle or glitter. They seem quite fragile, but I've traveled with both my blush palette and this bronzer before and never had any issues with them breaking or crumbling (if you hit the pan with the brush harshly, they tend to start collecting some powder on the edges of the pans).
Ingredients list:
The shade itself is quite warm for my complexion and unless I go in very lightly it can easily make me look crazy. Other than in summer I tend to wear it more as a blush, as a wash of color on the lids (looks so pretty and effortless) or applied very very lightly with a fluffy brush, to avoid looking orange. Because of the undertone and luminous glow, it makes the skin look sun-kissed and radiant. The powder blends out smoothly, without looking patchy or uneven.
Comparison swatches (these are all swatched heavily to show the undertone difference more clearly):
- Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer in Luminous Bronze Light,
- NARS Laguna Bronzer,
- Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze and Glow Bronzer,
- Kat Von D Shade & Light Contour Palette shade Sombre,
- Benefit Hoola Bronzer.
This bronzer is definitely the warmest one in my collection and it would be better suited for someone with a medium complexion, but since my overall coloring is pretty warm I think it still suits me, I just have to make sure to apply it with a light hand.
