Bioderma Sébium Hydra Moisturizing Compensating Care

Today I have another skincare item to share. Bioderma is well known for their great Sensibio H2O Make-up Removing Micelle Solution but they have several other skincare lines available, often designed for more sensitive skins in mind.

The Bioderma Sébium Hydra Moisturizing Compensating Care moisturizer comes is a white squeezy tube and contains 40 ml of product. It is designed especially with acne-prone skin in mind and is supposed to provide it with enough moisture, to compensate for the loss of hydration from using drying and often irritating treatments. The cream inside has a white tint and has a fresh-fruity medicinal scent, which goes away as the product dries on the skin. It feels pretty lightweight, has an almost watery spreadable texture and sinks into the skin within a minute. It instantly provides some moisture and leaves a natural-satin finish on the skin. It contains glycerin for moisturizing the skin, ceramides which help restructure the skin and relieve the skin of the tightening sensation, as well as allantoin and enoxolone, which help reduce redness and soothe the skin. Because it is a compensating product it is supposed to also regulate sebum and as a consequence keep pores from becoming clogged and forming new blemishes.
After using this moisturizer on and off since last year I can assure that this is a comforting product to apply on the skin if you're oily and acne-prone. It never caused me any irritations, but at the same time it wasn't particularly great at any of it's claims. It does hydrate the skin, but about 20 minutes after application my skin would get that tightening feeling, so I always had to layer it with something more hydrating. I learned the hard way that it doesn't really do anything for oil control, so I proceeded to only wear it at night time and I have to layer it with an essence/serum and another moisturizer, so my skin doesn't feel dehydrated and tight. It also contains mineral oil, which doesn't break me out, but I'm still trying to avoid using on my skin.

It is a passable moisturizing product, but leaves me wanting something more so I could actually recommend it to anyone. Available at pharmacies that sell Bioderma and online here
