2016 Beauty Favourites - pt. 2: Skincare, Hair care & Random

Today I'm continuing with the second post of my 2016 Beauty Favourites. I did a round-up of my favourite makeup bits from last year earlier this week, which you can read here. Today is going to be all about my skincare and haircare favourites, as well as some random bits at the end.
Starting with cleansing and toning the skin, my two favourites were (& still are) the First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser and COSRX Low pH Good Morning Gel Cleanser. They both cleanse the skin without stripping it or making it feel tight and have a different texture - First Aid Beauty feels super creamy and the COSRX one is a gel, making it a better choice for a morning and summer-time face wash. I forgot to add the Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm to this photo, which has been my go-to makeup remover balm/nourishing mask. It's well worth the price and you can often find it on offer, which makes the splurge a little easier. For toning the skin I've been using the Caudalie Grape Water and the Secret Key Honey Bee's Ac Control Mist for Sensitive Skin, as well as the gentle acid Facial Radiance Pads from First Aid Beauty (I finally purchased the full-sized packaging after using up several travel sized versions).
For moisturizing and protecting the skin I've been mainly relying on Korean/Asian skincare. First of, the COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence is probably my favourite discovery and I've been using it everyday. It feels really light on the skin, but packs in a lot of moisture and a layer of comfort for the skin. Next up, another COSRX favourite in the shape of their Ultimate Moisturizing Honey Overnight Mask, which I've been using as a moisturizer and leave-on mask and don't even know how many jars I've gone through so far anymore. To seal everything in, I've been loving the Mizon Snail Recovery Gel Cream. Now that it's winter I've also added the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream to my regimen and I'm impressed with the effect it leaves on my skin every morning. This year I also switched from using greasy and thick sunscreen formulas available here to a water-light formulated Bioré UV Aqua Rich Watery Gel SPF 50+.
I've been dealing with dry lips a lot this year, mostly from trying to love some drying lipstick formulas. To treat and heal them I've resorted to using deeply nourishing and hydrating products. Most of the year I've used the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Lip Therapy, which has been joined more recently by the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask and Lanolips 3-in-1 Banana Balm.
When it comes to hair I'm pretty low maintenance and don't use other than shampoo, leave-in & wash-off conditioners and dry shampoo often. Every once in awhile though, I still reach for a texturizer or a volumizing spray and the Serge Normant Meta Sheer Dry Oil Finishing Spray, which helps control frizz, adds volume and helps create texture and slight beachy waves in my hair, along with the Drybar Triple Sec 3-in-1 Spray, which does a combined job of a texturizer, volume spray and dry shampoo, are my favourite discoveries. Both also smell incredible and the scent lasts for well over a day when I use them.

I also wanted to add some random favourites this year. My friend shared a thought provoking and inspiring youtube account with me earlier this year and it's truly one of those creators I look forward to the most each week (and has nothing to do with beauty): Nerdwriter, who creates engaging video essays on a range of different topic, mostly focusing on movies, music and current events.
My other youtube favourite (this time beauty related) is still Kathleen Lights. I love her simple looks, that are actually wearable and simple to recreate as well as her warm personality.
As far as following blogs go, I started reading more food blogs and especially love the simple, easy to follow and delicious vegan and often gluten free recipes posted on Minimalist Baker. For beauty my favourites still remain The Beauty Look Book, along with Mateja's Beauty Blog and Petra's Adjusting Beauty for two more local options.
I considered doing a film round up, but I've seen soooo many great ones this year. One that has stuck with me the most is probably Captain Fantastic, about a father raising 6 kids in a beautiful Northwest landscape who is forced to leave this paradise and face the 'real' world.

Leave any of your random favourites below and I'll make sure to check them out.

    1. Ja, mastno in občutljivo kožo, nagnjeno k aknam.

    2. Ti me vedno navdušiš na First Aid izdelki.

      Np :)
