Paula's Choice Clear Anti-Redness Exfoliating Solution in Regular Strength (2% Salicylic Acid)

In the past year or two acid toning has become more and more popular, although these kinds of products have been around for several years now, just not so readily available on our market. One of the brands that is well known for their AHA and BHA Exfoliating Liquids is Paula's Choice, who have created a wide range of skincare items for many different skin types. I've reviewed the Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid (Salicylic Acid) in the past and this one is a milder version (it works at a different pH level) and more suitable for someone who is looking to enter the world of acid toning and gradually build the tolerance for stronger products.

The Paula's Choice Clear Anti-Redness Exfoliating Solution in Regular Strength comes in a plastic bottle and contains 118 ml of product. It contains 2% Salicylic Acid and is especially suitable for oily and blemish prone skin, because it will exfoliate the inside of the pores. It prevents breakouts, fades red marks, reduces redness, unclogs and slightly minimizes enlarged pores for an overall brighter complexion. I wet a cotton pad and apply it all over my face (avoiding the eyes) and down the neck. You could also pour about half a teaspoon of product into your palm and pat it into the skin, but using a cotton pad adds to exfoliation.
The texture of this one is similar to water, but slightly thicker in consistency, without color or added fragrances, so it's suitable for sensitive skin as well. I've used some form of acid in my skin care for several years, so I'm able to use it every night, but if you're new to acids I'd recommend incorporating it into your routine every couple of days in the begining, and then gradually increase the use to more days, depending on how your skin looks. If you use it on open blemishes, it will burn, but other wise it doesn't feel like anything on the skin. I didn't have any problems when I started using it, but you could experience redness, photosensitivity, additional breakouts and dry patches before the skin adjusts to the product.
The Paula's Choice Clear Anti-Redness Exfoliating Solution in Regular Strength is a nice exfoliating liquid and I've found it to be really gentle and non-irritant. The brand has a variety of acid toners available on their website. If you're looking for results that will be visible quickly you might want to try the Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid (Salicylic Acid) instead of this one.
