Max Factor recently came out with a new mascara which is supposed to be an all-in-one product that will add volume, length and color intensity to your lashes. I'm a huge fan of their 2000 Calorie Mascara, so I was excited to give this one a try.
The Max Factor Masterpiece Glamour Extensions 3-in-1 Volumising Mascara* comes in a pretty standard packaging - black tube with golden writing and some added details. What's the most special about it is the brush - it's made of several rows with different lengths of plastic bristles that shorten and thin out towards the wand. The bristles are pretty short, which makes the application simple, since it's almost impossible to smudge it on the eyelids (or poke yourself in the eye) and you can also get right in to the lash roots to add more lift. Shorter bristles also make application to the lower lashes much easier. It glides on the lashes smoothly. The formula is not waterproof and on me it doesn't smudge or transfer. After a long day of wearing it (for 12 + hours), I can sometimes notice some tiny flakes beneath my lower lash line, but they're not noticeable if you don't look really close. It holds the curl well (around 10 hours) and layers well, but can get a bit clumpy with three or more layers. The formula seemed to be just right from the beginning - not too dry or too watery. It's easily removed with a cleansing oil.
I took several photos of the brush to illustrate the bristles from different sides:
On my lashes (they were not curled before application):
Max Factor Masterpiece Glamour Extensions 3-in-1 Volumising Mascara adds mostly length with some volume for everyday wear, but it doesn't totally deliver on the color intensity claim. With one coat it looks fairly natural, while two coats look more intense. When it comes to mascara people usually have the most divided opinions and while I still prefer the 2000 Calorie one, this is another decent everyday all-in-one option.
In our drugstores it retails for around 13€ and it's also available online from Boots.
