Max Factor Excess Shimmer in 20 - Copper & 25 - Bronze

Cream eyeshadows have been gaining momentum and drugstore brands have finally upped their game and came up with some pretty decent formulas.
One of the first really good ones were probably Color Tattoos from Maybelline, but recently Max Factor also decided to add similar products on their shelves. I picked up two shades of their Excess Shimmer Eyeshadows: 20 Copper and 25 Bronze (I also spotted a gorgeous shimmery black called Onyx when these first launched but now it's nowhere to be found).
These have almost a whipped texture (very soft - think mousse - and like nothing I've tried before), are highly pigmented and in general perform like something that could cost double their price. I usually use my fingers to apply and blend them, but the darker shade (Bronze) usually also requires some blending with a brush for a perfect finish. When applied you have about 2 minutes to work with them, before they set.
Both shades can be applied in a thin layer all over the lid or can be built up for a more intense look. I've also tried wearing the Bronze shade as liner and it stayed on the lids for over 8 hours, when it started to fade a little. They also work great as a base for other powder eyeshadows. When used with a base (Urban Decay's Primer Potion) these stay on the lids all day without creasing or fading (over 12 hours), and even without a base their wear time is pretty impressive - they only started to crease after about 6 hours.
Copper is a dark shimmery champagne colour // Bronze is a mid-toned bronze copper with golden shimmer
These two shades work great together: the easiest way to wear them is applying Copper all over the lid, add some Bronze in the crease or outer half of the eye, add some eyeliner and I'm good to go. You only need a tiny bit of product to cover the entire lid. They have a shimmery metallic finish, but it's subtle enough to wear in the day time.

The Max Factor Excess Shimmer Cream Eyeshadows are available online at Boots and local drugstores with their counters.

  3. This eyeshadows looks great, but I think that the idea is already on the market. Maybelline Color Tatoo eyeshadows looks very similar - they also have a creamy texture.
