Lately my skin has been breaking out like crazy, especially on my chin area and one of the life saver products has been the Tea Tree oil, also known as Melaleuca alternifoliais.
This is a natural antiseptic essential oil suitable for everyday use all over the body. The oil is extracted from a plant native to Australia and cannot be found naturally occurring elsewhere. Tea tree oil is known for its topical antiseptic and anti-fungal treatment or infection-reducing benefits. It also has antibiotic properties and helps aid against aliments such as skin infections, rashes, burns, dandruff, bug bites (mosquitos!) and much more.
Using it on the skin is very simple. I either apply it to a cotton pad or just put a drop or two to my finger tips and then tap and massage it into the skin where I have any irritations. If you have an open wound from squeezing zits (come on, we all do it!) you're going to feel a slight burn and tingling, but even the most sensitive skin shouldn't get irritated by using it.
Apart from using it on your skin, tea tree oil can also be used in the household and as a remedy for other discomforts, like earache.
